Fourth Annual DeLuna’s Open Water Swim Registration is Now Open
Pensacola, FL. (January 20, 2022) – Pensacola Sports and Salty Sports Society invites both locals and visitors alike to participate in the 4th annual DeLuna’s Open Water Swim on Saturday, April 23, along Pensacola Beach. Early registration is now open to the public.
Participants can choose to swim three different races within the calm, protected waters of the Santa Rosa Sound: the 0.6-mile sprint for $25, the 1.2-mile short swim for $30, or the 2.4-mile-long swim for $35.
The time to take advantage of these prices is now, as the price will increase after Feb. 28.
"We are thrilled to partner with Pensacola Sports, once again, for the second stop on the Speedo SALT Series — the DeLuna’s Open Water Swim," said Matt Dunn, co-founder of Salty Sports Society. "Due to the many offerings and beauty of Pensacola Beach, this swim has quickly become a bucket list race for most open water swimmers.”
DeLuna’s Open Water Swim is named after Don Tristan de Luna, a 16th-century Spanish conquistador who led an expedition to Pensacola in 1559 and is credited with establishing the first European settlement of the New World here.
This race continues to be the only timed, open-water swim competition in Northwest Florida since its establishment in 2019. Swimmers have the chance to plunge right into the crisp, emerald-green waters of the Santa Rosa Sound.
“Athletes from all over the country enjoy coming to Pensacola Beach because of all the fun-filled activities, food options, and outdoor adventures to explore,” furthered Dunn. “It always makes for a great weekend."
