Bud Light Fishing Rodeo Prizes

June 22-23, 2019

This year’s Bud Light Fishing Rodeo will take place June 21-24, 2019.  The weigh in is at Flounders on Pensacola Beach on Saturday from 2p-7p and Sunday from noon-6p.

Cash awards and prizes await the angler who weighs in the top three fish in 20 different species. In addition to the rodeo, there is the Buick GMC Cadillac Pensacola  King Mackerel Challenge with separate buy-in and cash and prizes awarded to the boat that brings in the biggest king mackerel.  There is also the In-Shore Challenge and the Academy Sports and Outdoors Junior Rodeo.

Boundaries for the In-Shore Challenge – the Highway 59 Bridge in Orange Beach is the west boundary and the Mid-Bay Bridge in Destin is the east boundary.  All boats participating in the In-Shore Challenge must catch their fish (red fish, trout, flounder) within those boundaries to be eligible for prizes.  A polygraph test will be administered to the winning boat.

1st through 3rd place prizes will be awarded for the following divisions:

1st place = $300 in prizes  & award
2nd place = $200 in prizes & award
3rd place = $100 in prizes & award

  • King Mackerel is the only eligible species.
  • 100% of all entry fees will be returned in prizes.
  • The King Mackerel Challenge is an SKA event, but you are not required to be a member of SKA to participate. All Rodeo rules still apply.
  • Everyone on the boat must purchase a general rodeo ticket to be eligible for Challenge prizes.
  • Prize depth will be based on the total number of boats entered in the Challenge.
  • Please use the below chart as a guideline for prize payout. Prize money will increase and decrease based on the total boat count.

Cash Awards

Cash Award categories are available at $500, $300, $200 and $100 King Mackerel and $100 Daily.

Each category will pay out 1st, 2nd and 3rd places based on 50%, 30% and 20% split of total monies, less a 10% tournament fee.

If there are 5-10 entries in a cash awards division, then prizes will be based on a 1st place 60% and 2nd place 40% split, less a 10% tournament fee; 4 or less entries in a division will be winner take all, less 10% tournament fee.

1st through 3rd place prizes will be awarded for the following divisions for each age group (10 & under and 11-16):

1st place = $50 in fishing gear & trophy
2nd place = $30 in fishing gear & trophy
3rd place = $20 in fishing gear & trophy

  • Grand Slam consists of the combined total weight of all three species.
  • All challenge fish must be caught between the boundaries (East Boundary – Mid-Bay Bridge and West Boundary – Hwy 59 Bridge)

Cash Awards

Optional Cash Awards are available for each of the following divisions: Day One Grand Slam, Final Grand Slam, Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder.

Cash Award categories are available at $200, $100, and $50 for Grand Slam and $100 and $50 for Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder.

  • Bonus prizes are supplemental awards to the Bud Light General Rodeo and Academy Sports + Outdoors Junior Rodeo Prizes.  All registered anglers are eligible for bonus prizes where appropriate and are eligble to win more than one bonus prize.

Raymarine Mystery Weight

There are two mystery weight bonuses.  These bonuses will be awarded to the first angler that weighs an eligible tournament fish 4.03 lbs. and 30.17 lbs.  If the exact weights aren’t hit, then the cloeest without going over will win.  The winners receive prizes valued at $100.

Lady Angler

Awarded to the first lady angler weighing in an eligible tournament fish each day.  The winner will receive a prizes valued at $100.

Creighton Tippins Parker Memorial Award

The award will be given to the angler weighing in the largest king mackerel in both the the youth and junior divisions.  The winner will receive $500 and a trophy.

The award and trophy was named in memory of Creighton Tippins Parker, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, who passed away in 2011.  His love and talent for fishing was apparent at a young age.  He fished numerous local tournament with his team Rag-Tag.  They won or placed 2nd or 3rd in many tournaments and was active in the Southern Kingfish Association.  They were named National Champions of the Yamaha Professional Tour in 2001 and was named Angler of the Year in 2003 by the Pensacola News Journal.
