Pensacola Sports, along with the presenting sponsor Wells Fargo Advisors, partnered with the City of Pensacola and Escambia County Fire Departments to host the first Pensacola Beach Firefighters Challenge in April of 2016.  Teams from across the Southeast came to Pensacola to compete in the one-day event, testing their firefighter skills on the sand of Pensacola Beach.  In addition to benefiting Pensacola Sports and being a sports tourism draw for the area, the event was able to contribute $2,000 to the Fallen Firefighter Fund of Escambia County.

“Working with the local firefighters during this event was a great experience,” said Ray Palmer, Pensacola Sports President Ray Palmer.  “Contributing to this great cause to pay respect to these heroes is just a small way of saying “Thank You” for what they do for our community.”

The Pensacola United Firefighter Association, Inc. (PUFFA) is in the process of raising funds to construct the Fallen Firefighter Memorial to be located at Pensacola Library Downtown Branch.

We’d like to thank Pensacola Sports and the many Firefighters that participated in this years’ Firefighters Challenge,” said Stefon Andrews, President of PUFFA.  “Without them we wouldn’t be moving closer to our goal of erecting the first “ Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial” in the city of Pensacola, to remember those that have lost their lives in the line of duty.”
