USTA Men's Pro Circuit event returns to Pensacola

Pensacola, FL – (May 6, 2024) – Players are coming to Pensacola from all over the world to compete in the Pensacola Pro Tennis Championship, a USTA Men's Pro Circuit event. The competition runs from May 9 to 19 at Roger Scott Tennis Center. The tournament is part of the 2024 USTA Pro Men's 25K Circuit.

Players representing Australia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Portugal and many more will gather in Northwest Florida to compete in this tournament. Pensacola Sports Director of Events Amy Marquez said this tournament will attract the highest-ranking players in the world.

“These athletes are the highest ranked players from around the globe,” said Marquez. “We’re very fortunate to be able to host this level of event in Pensacola.”

Tournament Director Skip Vogelsang said this is much more than the usual local tennis tournament.

“My greatest challenge as the tournament Director is to help the community understand this is much more than just another local tournament,” said Vogelsang. “These are the young tennis stars of the future from around the world. We have had quite a few players rise to one of the top 10 in the world. And it’s a fun challenge to see if we can identify who might be playing at the U.S. Open in just three or four years.”

Past players include Alexander Zverev, Dennis Shapovalov, Felix Auger Aliassime and Jack Sock. The only Pensacola player to qualify and register is Justin Lyons, a Catholic High graduate who’s playing at Florida State University.
